Angel Fire Resort, NM, Adds Double Black Diamond Terrain for the First Time in History - SnowBrains
"Located in New Mexico, Angel Fire Resort offers a mix of ski terrain from beginner to expert. This year, the resort grows its offerings with the addition of double black diamond expert terrain for the first time in its 59-year history. Intermediate skiers don't need to worry; there are also several new blue runs debuting this year. These additions will open up never-before-skied terrain inside the existing boundary lines of the resort."
"Angel Fire is introducing seven all-new trails this winter, with their first two double black runs opening alongside a brand-new quad lift. This new chair lift is designed to ease navigation around the mountain. The two new blue runs, named Heaven Sent and Kolfer's Run, both offer amazing views with a consistent long pitched slope. Three Black runs, Deer Glade (previously known as Bo Glade), Corkscrew, and Grouse Blitz will give advanced skiers more options, but these aren't the toughest runs on the mountain."
"Coming alongside the new runs is a brand new quad lift named Rake's Rider, which should ease navigation across the mountain, offering skiers and riders a second way up from the bottom of Southwest Flyer. The new lift will have a length of 3,193 feet and a vertical rise of 932 feet. Rake's Rider will transport 1,400 riders per hour, making navigation around the mountain much smoother."
Located in New Mexico, Angel Fire Resort expands terrain with seven new trails, including the first double black diamond runs in its 59-year history and new blue runs for intermediates. The new blue runs Heaven Sent and Kolfer's Run provide long pitched slopes and panoramic views. Three additional black runs — Deer Glade (formerly Bo Glade), Corkscrew, and Grouse Blitz — add advanced options. The double black runs, Hell's Gate and Turbulence, introduce difficult gladed terrain for expert skiers. A new quad lift, Rake's Rider, stretches 3,193 feet with 932 feet vertical, 1,400 riders per hour, 13 towers, 85 chairs, and added snowmaking infrastructure. Angel Express chairlift construction is planned beyond 2025-26.
