A Guide to Les 3 Vallees, the World's Largest Ski Area - SnowBrains
"Trip ReportWhen I looked at the piste map of Les 3 Vallées in the French Alps for the first time, it was hard for me to feel unimpressed. Billed as the largest interconnected ski area in the world, this massive merging of three major adjacent ski resorts-CourchevelMéribel, and Val Thorens-actually encompasses four lesser ski areas as well, and all together, it's so stupendous that it borders on overwhelming."
"When it comes to riding the pistes of Les 3 Vallées, there's great groomed snow virtually everywhere on the trail map (when Mother Nature cooperates, and so far she has this winter), plus tree runs and off-piste areas, until around late April. The Les 3 Vallées pass gives you carte blanche of wherever you'd want to go within its domain for about $94 USD/day or $476/six days. Epic Pass holders can rejoice: simply show your pass at a ticket window and get seven consecutive days of skiing and riding across the entire Les 3 Vallées map."
Les 3 Vallées combines Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens and four smaller areas into the largest interconnected ski domain. Groomed pistes, tree runs, and off-piste terrain are available through late April when conditions permit. A full Les 3 Vallées pass costs about $94 USD per day or $476 for six days. Epic Pass holders receive seven consecutive days across the entire area by presenting their pass. Individual resort passes are roughly 15% cheaper but are best only for visitors with limited time or skill who plan to stay within one valley. Courchevel and Méribel offer the most balanced terrain, with long runs from the Saulire summit exceeding 4.5 miles.
