"At approximately 12:30 p.m., during another aerial sweep, the helicopter crew detected and localized an avalanche transceiver signal north of Tamlspitze. Mountain rescuers and alpine police officers were transported to the site, where they continued the search on the ground using transceiver equipment. Two Austrian men, ages 44 and 47, went missing during a backcountry ski tour on Tamlspitze in the Tux Valley on February 28. Despite being highly experienced and well-equipped, they failed to return and were reported missing at 8:00 p.m. Mountain rescue teams from Tux and Mayrhofen initiated search operations but suspended ground efforts due to extreme avalanche danger. On March 1, a police helicopter detected multiple avalanches in the area. Poor visibility and unstable snowpack prevented immediate rescue attempts. Around 12:30 p.m., helicopter crews detected an avalanche transceiver signal north of Tamlspitze. Rescuers located both skiers in the avalanche debris by 1:00 p.m., but both were pronounced dead at the scene.
