A paraglider flying above the Piesendorf region near Salzburg experienced a sudden midair collision when a small plane tore through her canopy. The impact sent her spiraling thousands of feet as she worked to free herself from her harness and deploy a reserve parachute. After the emergency parachute opened, she descended quickly and landed on a grassy patch below. Salzburg State Police reported that she was airlifted by helicopter and suffered no serious injuries. Police also reported that the 28-year-old pilot was unharmed and said he was unable to avoid the crash. The incident was captured on video and circulated online.
