"With conditions lining up the way they did, this will be our fourth straight year opening first in Tahoe - and that's not luck. That's grit, teamwork, and a local community that shows up early, skis hard, and supports us year after year,"
"Despite those dedicated efforts, Mother Nature arrived fashionably late to the party, so we will not hit our originally targeted openings this Friday. The good news is that snow and colder temps have arrived, and the forecast looks promising,"
Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe will open Friday following several days of fresh snow and round-the-clock snowmaking at its high-elevation base. The resort had delayed an original Nov. 8 opening because warm temperatures had made snowmaking operations difficult. Operations will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the Lakeview Express lift providing access to Kit Carson Traverse, Kit Carson Bowl, and Ponderosa trails; beginner terrain will remain closed. Other Tahoe resorts, including Heavenly Mountain and Northstar California, have postponed full openings as crews await colder temperatures and additional snowfall to build mid-mountain coverage.
