"Last year I remember it was so dark so this was a really nice surprise. It was pretty much exactly how I expected. Not easy but I knew the others were pushing so there's no choice, you have to go."

Mikaela Shiffrin won the slalom in Gurgl, Austria, extending her Alpine skiing World Cup wins to 103 and claiming her second slalom victory of the season. The 30-year-old led both runs, opening a 0.31-second lead after the first leg and finishing 1.23 seconds ahead of Lara Colturi. Colturi, 19, skiing for Albania, took second while reigning world champion Camille Rast finished third. The podium matched the season opener in Levi and last year’s top three in Gurgl. Zrinka Ljutic straddled a gate on the second run and Katharina Liensberger failed to finish the first.
