First women's downhill training canceled over heavy snow
"Due to the ongoing snowfall and the forecast for tomorrow the DH training 1 is canceled,"
"But we also need to get out of the start gate on one training run in case something happens further along the line and they have to cancel something else,"
"There's lots of options."
Heavy snowfall at Olympia delle Tofane in Cortina d'Ampezzo forced organizers to cancel the opening women's downhill training session scheduled for Thursday after about seven inches of snow fell and more was forecast. Three training sessions were planned across Thursday to Saturday ahead of Sunday's downhill, and rules require at least one training run before the race. Lindsey Vonn suffered a ruptured ACL with bone bruising and meniscal damage in Crans-Montana, prompting her team to seek extra recovery time. Head coach Chris Knight said Vonn may take only one training run and that multiple options remain.
