Coach: Lindsey Vonn has no workout pain, confident she'll race
"I'm pretty confident that she can still pull off this dream,"
"She's been doing box jumps. She's trying everything out, loads and stresses and things like that to just see where she's at and see how she feels, and she's pulled up great from everything,"
"Every day my knee's gotten better. And every day we're discussing with a full medical team, doctors, physios, everyone, to make sure we're doing everything to make sure I am making smart and safe decisions."
"No swelling, no pain."
Lindsey Vonn sustained a ruptured ACL in her left knee and also has bone bruising and meniscal damage while preparing to race. She progressed rapidly from needing a crutch to performing box jumps, pool workouts with a weighted vest, and high-speed skiing under close supervision. A team of two physical therapists and a fitness trainer are repeatedly testing loads and monitoring for swelling or pain. A prior partial titanium replacement was placed in the right knee in 2024, and surgery on the left knee is not being pursued at this time. The Milan Cortina Olympic downhill is the immediate focus, with risks acknowledged given age and injury history.
