Nearly 900 full-time Google employees issued an open demand for transparency about how company technology is used by the US government. Google holds contracts to provide cloud services to federal agencies and has connections to work used in immigration enforcement. Hundreds of workers at other tech companies previously called for companies to stop supporting the federal immigration crackdown. The Trump administration increased forced removals, deploying ICE and CBP agents into multiple cities, and operations have preceded two high-profile killings of US citizens observing federal agents. A long-time Google employee named Alex said he no longer feels proud and described the ties as abhorrent and mind-boggling.
