Elon Musk Had 'Hair-Raising' Idea of Passing OpenAI Onto His Kids, Sam Altman Says
"Altman and Sam Teller, Musk's former chief of staff, testified on Tuesday that they did not recall Musk ever attaching any special conditions to his donations to OpenAI. Additionally, it appears increasingly likely that Musk filed his case too late, years after he made his last donation to OpenAI and developed suspicion that the organization had breached its charitable trust. By then, the statute of limitations had already expired."
Altman testified in the Musk v. Altman trial after Musk’s lawyers questioned him for hours about alleged deceptive behavior. The cross-examination included heated exchanges tied to claims from former colleagues that he was untrustworthy. Musk’s lawsuit alleges Altman effectively stole OpenAI’s charitable mission by using a $38 million donation to create a for-profit business valued above $850 billion. During testimony, Altman and Sam Teller said they did not recall Musk attaching special conditions to his donations. The case also appeared vulnerable because it may have been filed too late, after the statute of limitations expired. Brockman and his wife attended, while Musk did not remain for Altman’s later testimony.
