A rare bolide was observed over Stockholm, prompting several calls to emergency services. Researchers confirmed it was likely a bright meteor that exploded in the atmosphere. Eric Stempels from Uppsala University noted that this bolide, which was visible around 9.30pm on Tuesday, passed at an altitude of approximately 30 kilometres. Such meteors are common, but a bolide of this magnitude is only seen every five years. Witnesses in Aland reported a loud bang as it burned up, describing it as formidable.
