The James Webb Space Telescope imaged a region where radiation and winds from a group of superhot infant stars are blasting and sculpting dense clouds of surrounding dust. The brilliant star cluster Pismis 24 is located about 5,500 light-years away near the core of the Lobster Nebula. Intense stellar radiation and winds carve and illuminate pillars, cavities, and other structures in the nebular material, showcasing active star formation and stellar feedback processes. The image is presented as Day 4 of the 2025 Space Telescope Advent Calendar, with a new image revealed each day until December 25.
