"The billionaire CEO of the Columbia Sportswear Company has just made anyone who believes the Earth is flat an opportunity of a lifetime. Tim Boyle, 76, announced a new competition on Tuesday, which challenged 'flat Earthers' to find the actual edge of the planet and bring back a picture of the abyss that sits beyond. Boyle, who is worth an estimated $1.6billion, said the reward for their world-changing discovery would be the control of his $3billion family business, which was founded in 1938."
"The announcement was part of Columbia's new marketing campaign called 'Expedition Impossible,' featuring Boyle walking around the company's Oregon headquarters, promising that everything from the meeting rooms to the coffee machines would be property of the winner. 'This message is for flat Earthers. You guys claim there's an end to the Earth. Well, just go snap a picture, send it to us, and you get the assets of the company. All of it. No paperwork, no lawyers, no catches,' Boyle declared."
Tim Boyle, 76, CEO of Columbia Sportswear, launched a marketing challenge offering control of his $3 billion family business to anyone who photographs the Earth's edge. The 'Expedition Impossible' campaign promises transfer of all company assets to any flat-Earther who returns a picture of the abyss beyond the planet's rim. Humans have known the Earth is round for over 2,000 years and observations support that, including ships vanishing over the horizon, Earth's round shadow on the moon during lunar eclipses, and photographs from shuttles and satellites. The modern flat Earth movement began with Samuel Rowbotham's 1849 Zetetic Astronomy and persists because many distrust scientific institutions.
