CIA Will Neither Confirm Nor Deny Records on 3I/ATLAS
"Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb has maintained that there's a chance mysterious interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is a technological object sent by an extraterrestrial civilization. He's meticulously catalogued what he claims are anomalous qualities of the object, which most of his peers believe is a natural comet from a different star system, from its unusually large suspected size to a rotation axis almost perfectly perpendicular to the Sun to a " fine-tuned " trajectory that brought it within spitting distance of Mars and Jupiter."
"The CIA told Greenewald in a formal response to his FOIA that it will "neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of records" related to the object - a non-answer that could be interpreted in strikingly different ways. Greenewald is a well-known name in UFO circles. He founded The Black Vault, an enormous archive of millions of pages of government documents he's uncovered via FOIA inquiries, including declassified videos of what the Pentagon describes as unidentified anomalous phenomena."
A proposal exists that interstellar object 3I/ATLAS may be a technological artifact from an extraterrestrial civilization. Reported anomalies include unusually large suspected size, a rotation axis nearly perpendicular to the Sun, and a trajectory that passed very close to Mars and Jupiter. Most experts classify the object as a natural comet. NASA maintained the natural-comet assessment and was accused of withholding Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter observations during a government shutdown; those images were later released. A FOIA request to the CIA seeking records referencing 3I/ATLAS received a response that neither confirmed nor denied the existence of records. The FOIA requester founded a large archive of declassified government documents related to unidentified anomalous phenomena.
