Briefly

Since late January 2024, the US has seen significant disruptions within key scientific organizations like NOAA, NASA, and the CDC. Funding streams have been terminated, grants are pulled, and thousands of employees have been dismissed. A proposed budget threatening to decimate science as known is on the horizon. Despite this crisis, parallels are drawn to past events, suggesting that American science may be devastated, yet a global scientific community could still flourish, reminiscent of historical precedents in Nazi Germany.

Even if American science becomes gutted to the worst imaginable level, science will still survive and thrive in the rest of the world, and we may be witnessing a pivotal moment that leads to the decline of the US.
