AI designs antibiotics for gonorrhoea and MRSA superbugs
Briefly

Two new potential antibiotics created by artificial intelligence aim to fight drug-resistant gonorrhoea and MRSA. These antibiotics were designed atom-by-atom by AI and proven effective in laboratory and animal tests. Developed by a team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, this innovation could initiate a new era in antibiotic discovery. Current antibiotic resistance leads to over a million deaths annually, and the traditional antibiotic pipeline has significantly dwindled. The AI process involved analyzing 36 million compounds to construct targeted antibiotics using advanced chemical structure information.
The two compounds still need years of refinement and clinical trials before they could be prescribed.
