Alexandar Georgiev, after a tough season with the San Jose Sharks, has indicated he will not return as the team has decided to seek a different goaltending group for next year. Georgiev performed admirably in his final game, stopping 25 of 27 shots in a loss to the Oilers, but struggled with the teamâs challenges this year, particularly in a season marked by an 11-game losing streak. His move comes after a successful stint with the Colorado Avalanche where he led the NHL in wins.
"I've already had a conversation with the GM, and he said they're going with a different group for next year," said Georgiev, reflecting on his uncertain future.
Georgiev, 29, was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in the Mackenzie Blackwood trade on Dec. 9, but faced a challenging season with the Sharks.
Despite leading the NHL in wins over the last two years, Georgiev had to navigate through a difficult season with the Sharks' poor defensive performance.
San Jose Sharks faced their 11th consecutive loss, marking a disappointing end to the season for both the team and Georgiev.
