The San Jose Sharks have secured defenseman Mattias Hävelid with a three-year entry-level contract, adding to their 2022 draft class. The 21-year-old had a productive season in Sweden, tallying an assist in the SHL and 14 points in the regular season with Djurgårdens IF, which won the HockeyAllsvenskan and earned promotion to the SHL. Hävelid was selected 45th overall in the draft, after a strategic trade involving their 2022 first-round pick. Notably, the Sharks now have four players from the 2022 draft class under contract.
This past season Hävelid had one assist in 19 games with Linköping HC in the Swedish Hockey League and 14 points in 18 regular-season games with Djurgårdens IF.
With the No. 11 pick. Arizona took center Conor Geekie, who is now with the Tampa Bay Lightning and had 14 points in 52 games this past season.
