NHL Draft Lottery to be held on May 5. Here's how the process works
Briefly

The NHL Draft Lottery is set for Monday in Secaucus, N.J., with the San Jose Sharks featuring prominently, again boasting the best odds at 25.5% for the top pick. Having finished last in the league for two consecutive seasons, they are poised to pick first, following last year's selection of Macklin Celebrini. The top prospect this year is defenseman Matthew Schaefer, viewed as a front-runner due to his skills. Sharks' GM Mike Grier is open to trading the pick if the right opportunity arises, while the lottery will be aired on ESPN.
He is the best available prospect at his position, and the results he achieves with his combination of speed, skills, and size give him the edge for the No. 1 spot.
The Sharks will have the best chance - 25.5% - of winning the lottery and earning the right to select first overall.
