After closing their iconic Finnerty's in 2020, owners Dieter Seelig and Brian Stapleton made a heartfelt farewell video. Despite the finality of their closure, Seelig remained hopeful about reviving the bar, asserting that this was not the end. They have now found a new location after a lengthy search and plan to bring back the cherished establishment known for being the go-to spot for Bay Area sports fans in New York City, fostering a sense of community over the years during major sporting events.
Shutting down the bar in March of 2020 ... was an incredibly hard thing to do. But here in October of 2020, letting y'all know that Finnerty's won't be reopening is definitely the hardest thing we've had to do.
I'll never bet against this city, man. The resilience. The people. I knew there was always going to be a time where we would bring back Finnerty's.
You have not heard the last of Finnerty's.
Since 2009, Finnerty's had been THE sports bar in New York City where you could catch games of your beloved Bay Area sports teams.
