"At long last, San Francisco Giants top prospect Bryce Eldridge is coming to the majors. The Giants are calling up the slugging 20-year-old with two weeks left in the regular season, according to multiple reports. The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser was first to report. (The Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms.) It isn't clear yet how the Giants will get Eldridge onto both their active 28-man roster or onto the larger 40-man roster, which is full."
"Eldridge opened eyes as far back as the first game of spring training and has been the buzziest name in the franchise's farm system all year even while battling injuries and his tendency to strikeout often. The 2023 first-round pick has hit 25 total homers this season in 100 games between Double-A and Triple-A. He's also improved as the season's gone along."
"In spite of that buzz, Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey has consistently downplayed the possibility of Eldridge making his MLB debut in 2025, saying the organization preferred for the slugger to get a full season in the minors for repetitions both offensively and defensively at first base. But Posey did leave the door open, saying he would never fully rule it out."
San Francisco is promoting 20-year-old slugger Bryce Eldridge to the major leagues with two weeks left in the regular season. The organization faces roster logistics because the 40-man roster is full while the active roster expands to 28. Eldridge has hit 25 homers in 100 games between Double-A and Triple-A and showed a strong September with a .283 average and 14 strikeouts in 12 games. The 2023 first-round pick has battled injuries and strikeouts but has improved as the season progressed. President Buster Posey previously preferred another full minor-league season but did not rule out a debut. The Giants returned to playoff contention late in the season.
