Bryce Eldridge has been on the Giants’ big league roster for two weeks after a brief stint at the end of last season and a return to Triple-A to work on lowering his strikeout rate. After the team lost six straight games on a road trip, the Giants called up Eldridge and Jesus Rodriguez. Eldridge started the first three games of his call-up against the Padres, but afterward he started only four of the next 10 games and appeared as a pinch hitter only once. His two starts in the Dodgers series came against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani. The usage pattern has raised concerns about how the organization is managing a top prospect, especially given past difficulties with other top-100 players.
