"For the second straight year, Duane Kuiper has been recognized as one of the top broadcasters in Major League Baseball. The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced its ballot for next year's Ford C. Frick Award, which is given to one baseball broadcaster each year at the hall's enshrinement weekend. Kuiper, who began calling Giants games in 1986 after retiring from his playing career, has been nominated five times now but has not yet won the award."
"He and booth partner Mike Krukow were both nominated each of the last two years, but Krukow did not make the 2026 ballot. Kuiper, 75, was also a finalist in 2014 and 2022. Krukow, 73, was a finalist in 2017 after beginning his color commentary in 1990. Kuiper played parts of 12 seasons in the major leagues, from 1974-81 in Cleveland and 1982-85 with the Giants."
National Baseball Hall of Fame released the Ford C. Frick Award ballot for 2026. Duane Kuiper earned his fifth nomination but has not won. Kuiper began calling Giants games in 1986 after ending his playing career and played from 1974-81 with Cleveland and 1982-85 with the Giants. Mike Krukow, previously nominated, did not make the 2026 ballot; Krukow began color commentary in 1990 and was a 2017 finalist. Kuiper, Krukow, Jon Miller and Dave Flemming rotate TV and radio duties and form a core of the Giants fan experience. The winner will be announced Dec. 10 at MLB's Winter Meetings and honored July 25 during Hall of Fame weekend.
