Robbie Ray, the former Cy Young winner, has revitalized his career this spring with the San Francisco Giants after recovering from Tommy John surgery and a hamstring injury. In his latest outing, Ray delivered 4 1/3 innings against the Texas Rangers, striking out eight batters and demonstrating remarkable control. Although the Giants lost the game, Ray's performance and his overall spring training stats indicate he is back to his best, striking out 17 in 9 1/3 innings while only allowing two runs. Manager Bob Melvin expressed confidence in Ray's driven attitude.
This spring training, he came in looking like his normal self, manager Bob Melvin said. I think he's just happy that he's who he is right now, he's pretty driven so it's to be expected out of him.
Ray, who was acquired last offseason in a trade with the Mariners, has struck out 17 batters in 9 1/3 innings and allowed just two runs.
