The Pac-12 has entered a significant partnership with CBS, making it the primary media partner for the conference starting next summer. This five-year deal allows CBS to broadcast major events, including the Pac-12 football championship and championship games for men’s basketball. The agreement signifies a shift in the conference's media strategy, aiming for broader exposure and higher valuation as they still negotiate additional partnerships. Unlike typical disclosures at finalization, Pac-12 is revealing CBS’s deal amidst ongoing talks for further media rights.
Our goal with this process was to find transformational partnerships for the new Pac-12, and throughout our discussions... it became clear that a partnership with CBS Sports would be just that.
CBS will broadcast the Pac-12 football championship and the championship game of the men's basketball tournament, plus at least three regular-season football and men's basketball games.
The valuation of the CBS deal was not disclosed, in part because the Pac-12 remains in active negotiations with other networks over the remaining pieces of its media rights partnerships.
The five-year deal with CBS was approved by all eight current and future members of the conference.
