MLB boss not ruling out return of second Bay Area team if expansion happens
Briefly

Rob Manfred stated that Major League Baseball is open to expansion beyond the current 30 teams, which may include a second team in the Bay Area. The Giants remain the only MLB team in the area after the Athletics moved to West Sacramento. Previous stadium plans for the A's in Oakland failed due to territorial rights issues. Manfred previously collaborated with former Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf on finding a stadium site, but has had challenges with the current and new mayors. He remains optimistic about potential expansion locations.
"Each plan to build a new local stadium for the A's fell through, as did any hope of moving the team to San Jose, with the Giants claiming territorial rights."
"Manfred said expansion beyond the 30 existing clubs will be an open book, if and when he and team owners begin those conversations."
