Bryce Harper did it. So did Austin Reaves. Are in-game gender reveals becoming a trend?
Briefly

During a game against the San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper revealed the gender of his expected fourth child using a custom bat. His teammate, Trea Turner, assisted in the surprise by handing Harper a blue bat, indicating it’s a boy. Despite the 10-4 loss, the moment was special for Harper and his family, who were there to witness it. This act follows a trend in the sports community where players creatively announce family news, as seen with Austin Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Harper, whose family was in attendance for the 10-4 loss in Philadelphia, did not speak with reporters after the game. But Turner did, and the star shortstop explained how the whole thing came about.
He asked me earlier today to help him with the gender reveal. He's a pretty creative guy. He let us know in our team meeting. He kind of wanted to share the moment with everybody.
The in-game gender reveal was definitely a special moment, although not entirely unique. Lakers guard Austin Reaves wore pink and white sneakers in a March 26 road game against the Indiana Pacers.
