Angels activate shortstop Zach Neto following shoulder injury and surgery last year
Briefly

The Los Angeles Angels have activated shortstop Zach Neto off the injured list ahead of their game against the San Francisco Giants. Neto, who missed the end of the previous season and underwent shoulder surgery, had a successful rehabilitation stint in the minors. He is anticipated to enhance the team's offense, which has struggled recently, as previous shortstops Tim Anderson and Kevin Newman performed poorly at the plate. Neto's impressive stats last season bolster expectations for his impact upon returning.
The return of Neto's bat should be a considerable upgrade over Tim Anderson and Kevin Newman, who provided little offense for the Angels.
Neto hit .249 with a .761 OPS, 23 home runs, 34 doubles, 77 RBIs, 70 runs and 30 stolen bases in 155 games last season.
He made eight starts at shortstop, batting .286 with a .988 OPS, four homers, three doubles and eight RBIs in the 13 games.
Since scoring 11 runs at Tampa Bay, the Angels have scored an average of 2.3 runs per game and have lost five of their last six games.
