Tech giant ditches Texas, brings conference back to San Francisco

Visa committed to hosting its Visa Payments Forum at the Moscone Center from 2026 through 2030 to mark its 20th anniversary. The company held the event in San Francisco in 2024 after opening a Mission Bay headquarters and took it to Dallas in 2025. Visa leadership framed the move as an investment in the local community, economic growth, and San Francisco's role as a global innovation hub. Several companies previously stopped hosting events at Moscone, but tourism indicators show recovery. Moscone attendance and spending remain below 2019 but are improving, with Visa card data showing a 10% year-over-year spending increase in the first half of the year.
"The future of payments is here in San Francisco, a city that has always been at the heart of Visa's story," Oliver Jenkyn, group president of global markets at Visa, said in the Wednesday news release. "By bringing Visa Payments Forum home, we are investing in the local community, supporting economic growth, and showcasing San Francisco's role as a global hub for innovation."
In a recent video on Instagram, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie spoke with Jenkyn, who said Visa card data showed a 10% increase in spending in San Francisco in the first half of the year, compared with the same time period last year, with increases each month, and visitors from around the world. "From conferences returning to businesses reopening, downtown is buzzing with energy," Lurie wrote in the caption. "It's a new day in San Francisco, let's go."
