A San Francisco deputy was rehired after admitting to lying to the FBI about lending a department-issued bulletproof vest to a hitman affiliated with Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow. Raymond Chow remains incarcerated on a life sentence and posts intermittently on Facebook. The hitman was Andy Li, a former bodyguard who allegedly received orders to kill a rival, later cooperated with prosecutors, and took a plea on racketeering charges. The rehired deputy, Sergeant Michael Kim, had been dismissed in 2016 before sentencing to probation. Sheriff Paul Yamamoto intervened in the rehiring process, linking the case back to long-standing organized crime investigations.
