The team indicated Purdy could have been available as the No. 2 quarterback but chose to hold him out in that situation. Mac Jones has made eight starts this season and has performed well in nearly all of them. The team acknowledged Purdy likely will not return to full health this season while dealing with turf toe. The decision about making Purdy active hinges on how close to 100% he gets, and a return could come as soon as next week against the Arizona Cardinals if he is healthy enough to reclaim the starting job.
