"We are very excited to launch the SFO Gate Explorer program. Airports are about bringing people together, and this program creates so many new ways for friends and family to connect, whether on arrival, departure, or even a long layover."
"Gate Explorer Pass holders will, of course, need to bring along a Real ID or passport to get through security, and they will need to wait for an email showing their pass was approved."
San Francisco International Airport has launched the Gate Explorer Pass program, allowing non-ticketed visitors to access airport gates for the first time since September 2001. This initiative enables friends and family to accompany departing loved ones or greet arrivals. Passes can be applied for on the same day or up to 30 days in advance. Participants must present a Real ID or passport and adhere to security regulations. Other California airports, including Oakland, San Diego, Orange County, and Ontario, have implemented similar programs to enhance visitor experiences.
