San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie aims to restore the city's reputation by partnering with tech leaders. He acknowledges the need to address the drug and homelessness crisis driving businesses away. His recent initiatives include rolling back a program that provided drug use paraphernalia and introducing Permit SF to streamline business operations. Additionally, a new zoning proposal aims to allow taller buildings, potentially revamping housing options in specific neighborhoods. Lurie's proactive approach and focus on collaboration with entrepreneurs are meant to encourage them to stay in the city and promote business growth.
"I'm a mayor that is picking up the phone and calling CEOs... How can we keep you here? or How can we get you back?"
"Thanks for cleaning up the city a bit," said Ryan Peterson as Mayor Lurie walked on stage.
"We want our entrepreneurs starting businesses and then staying here... making it easier to start a restaurant, a bar, or a startup."
Lurie recently introduced a zoning proposal that would allow taller buildings in neighborhoods, marking potential significant change since 1970.
