"Marchese told SFGATE that when he met with one of the owners at the end of December, he was told that he was an insurance liability for tripping the customer, and was therefore being fired. He said that management gave him the option of signing a severance agreement, in which he would receive $5,000 in exchange for not suing the company or saying anything negative about it - but he declined to sign it."
"In the severance agreement obtained by SFGATE, one reason given for his termination was the video that "showed employee tripping the guest, which caused her to fall onto the sidewalk." In the video, the woman who was later arrested for public intoxication and identified by police as Shireen Afkari can be seen pulling Marchese's hair until he throws her phone down the street, then trips her."
A viral December video showed a couple assaulting employees at Hazie's, with the woman later fired from Strava. Bartender Miguel Marchese was also terminated and Hazie's is under investigation by the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement. Marchese said an owner told him he was an insurance liability for tripping the customer and that management offered a severance agreement of $5,000 in exchange for not suing the company or speaking negatively; he declined. The severance cited a video showing an employee tripping the guest causing her to fall. The video shows the guest pulling Marchese's hair, him throwing her phone, then tripping her.
