The U.S. Geological Survey reported that these quakes, originating 24 to 29 miles southwest of Ferndale, began around 1:17 a.m. and continued in a swarm over the next few hours. The quakes were felt in several nearby communities, including Eureka and Fortuna, but thankfully, no injuries or damages were reported. The seismic activity is linked to the San Andreas Fault system.
