San Francisco experienced two fatal shootings in late February and early March. The first incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, in the South of Market neighborhood's 100 block of Sixth Street, where a victim was shot and later pronounced dead at a hospital. The second shooting happened around 10 a.m. on Friday, February 27, near Dakota and 25th streets in the Potrero Hill public housing neighborhood, resulting in one death at the scene and another person transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. A juvenile with superficial injuries was also brought to a hospital by another party but had not been shot. The fatal shooting in February marked the fifth homicide reported in San Francisco that month.
