"The city of San Francisco flexed its natural, breathtaking beauty on a big national TV stage this week, airing a gorgeous ad during Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday night. The ad spot, which is the brain child of San Francisco-based creative agency TeakSF and the San Francisco Travel Association, features the holy grail of SF landmarks in their most flattering light, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, the Palace of Fine Arts, Chinatown, Alcatraz, Ocean Beach, Washington Square and Dolores Parks, and even the city's newest park, Sunset Dunes."
"And of course, who could forget some sweet aerial shots of Karl the Fog rolling in over the Golden Gate Bridge and Coit Tower? Or the city's iconic cable cars? The spot even prominently shows the iconic Bernal Heights rope swing, a decision that's generated a bit of controversy due to the city's constant removal of the landmark swing over safety concerns. Despite the mini controversy, the short film appears to have struck a positive chord with San Francisco locals past and present overall."
"An aspirational voiceover can be heard prompting viewers, "What if I told you there's a magical place, an extraordinary place?" as it cuts to stunning views of the city's landmarks, and residents "devouring," "playing," "discovering," and "celebrating" the city. "A place where anything is possible," the voiceover says as the tag line, "Believe in San Francisco," caps the ad campaign. "Obviously it's made to get more people to visit, but it also was really important to us that it celebrate the people that live here and feel like it genuinely represents the city," Kevin Gammon, owner and creative director of Teak SF, said of the ad campaign on Threads."
