Person Falls 100 Feet Off Cliff at Land's End In SF, Requiring Helicopter Rescue
San Francisco Fire Department crews responded around 7 pm Monday to the USS San Francisco Memorial near Land’s End after reports that a child had fallen. The victim was later confirmed as a young adult who fell from a height of about 70 to 100 feet from a nearly 100-foot cliff. Units arrived within about five minutes, located the person below a nearby cliff, and began interviewing witnesses. It was unclear how the person got past cable barriers that block the cliff edge. Fire crews rappelled down to provide help, then were met by a California Highway Patrol helicopter within about 10 minutes. The victim received treatment and was transported to a nearby hospital with traumatic injuries; condition was not released.
