Late in January, parents in the Castro neighborhood called police after a nude man was seen touching himself near teen girls outside a boba tea shop on 18th Street. Two 14-year-old girls reported the man, later identified as 35-year-old Michael Watson, appeared on multiple occasions covered in oil, nude, and often masturbating in public; he once followed the girls toward Dolores Park. Watson is a convicted sex offender with a 2020 indecent-exposure conviction and a Megan's Law listing. He was arrested in early February and convicted on multiple felonies, including indecent exposure, molesting a child, and stalking. He faces up to five years in jail.

Subsequently, their parents made a complaint to the police noting that Watson did not consort with the other nudists in the neighborhood, and was typically off on his own. He sometimes wore a sock on his junk, and more often than not was masturbating in the open.
