A 77-pound male mountain lion wandered through San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood beginning Monday morning and was observed again Tuesday before capture. Residents saw the animal up close at about 3 a.m., with one resident recording the cat locking eyes with her for over five minutes before it fled when a dog barked. Dozens of officials responded after public warnings advised people to slowly back away if they encountered the cat. The feline was found hiding in a garden between apartment buildings and was tranquilized three times, had its eyes covered and paws bound, and was taken into custody.
