Black Magic Voodoo Lounge, a beloved dive bar in the Marina district of San Francisco, is transitioning ownership after 63 years of operation. Established in 1962, it has been run by Joe Vernieri and Eleanor Hayes since 1998. Known for its New Orleans-inspired decor and vibrant atmosphere during Saints games, the bar has garnered a loyal following among locals and transplants alike. The change in ownership was announced via a public notice and will bring Morris Hospitality LLC into the fold, yet the bar continues to hold a special place in the community's heart.
I went there for Saints games when I first moved to the city and was missing New Orleans and my fellow Who Dats...It felt like I was back in the Big Easy.
This dive, where Lombard meets Van Ness Avenue, is the Saints bar in San Francisco. The decor and ambience is an ode to the Crescent City.
