Joby Aviation, a Northern California-based company headquartered in Marina, showcased its electric air taxi technology with a demonstration flight over San Francisco. The aircraft, designed to move passengers quickly and quietly, flew past iconic landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge. CEO JoeBen Bevirt, who founded the company 16 years ago, described the achievement as a landmark moment and personal dream realized. The Federal Aviation Administration selected Joby for its Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Integration Pilot Program, enabling the company to begin operations in multiple states including Arizona, Florida, Idaho, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and Utah within three months. The company plans to support cargo delivery and medical operations.
