San Francisco marked its 175th anniversary with a stunning laser display organized by the nonprofit arts group Illuminate, using nine battery-powered "Laser Space Cannons". Reflecting the city's fondness for light shows, the event took place at Civic Center and illuminated City Hall for the first time. Despite last-minute planning, the group executed the event flawlessly. Illuminate is launching the "City of Awe Fund" to secure future funding and aims to expand their laser displays, showcasing their commitment to enhancing the city's artistic landscape.
The event wasn't announced until Monday, but Illuminate pulled it together without a snag, said founder Ben Davis.
We were able to move quickly because Illuminate operates within a long-standing, high-trust network here in San Francisco.
