The Bay Area is set to experience a shift from colder, rainy weather to sunnier and warmer conditions this week, as announced by National Weather Service meteorologist Karleisa Rogacheski. Following a spell of rain, enthusiasm for spring warmth is high, with records for heat falling last week. Despite the sunny outlook, isolated thunderstorms and small hail are possible due to unstable air and low temperatures, primarily across a stretch from Santa Rosa to Paso Robles to Discovery Bay, while a winter storm warning remains in effect for Lake Tahoe and northeastern California.
A reversal from last week's weather is on tap for the Bay Area this week, with the key change being that the rain and cold will break from the starter's gate only to be replaced by sun and warmth.
New to the latest rain in the pattern is that temperatures will fall low enough and the air is unstable enough that thunderstorms and small hail could fall each day, according to meteorologist Karleisa Rogacheski.
