An explosion at a fireworks supplier's warehouse in Yolo County affects several Bay Area cities' planned July Fourth fireworks shows. San Jose has canceled its fireworks at Lake Cunningham Park due to the supplier's involvement. Cloverdale has also canceled its show, citing the disaster's impact. Other cities like Sutter and Yuba counties are considering alternatives due to their fireworks supplies being destroyed. The explosion has resulted in one confirmed dead and several individuals unaccounted for, overshadowing the cancellations with the tragedy of human loss.
"It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our annual Chuck Sibert Pyro Spectacular planned for July Fourth must be canceled," Cloverdale Lions Club officials said in a statement.
Officials in Sutter and Yuba counties said they were also exploring alternatives to fireworks displays, because their supplies were also destroyed on Tuesday.
San Jose has now canceled its fireworks show on July 4th at Lake Cunningham Park, saying that the Esparto supplier was the supplier for this show.
As of Wednesday afternoon we know one person is confirmed dead and multiple others remain unaccounted for from the explosion at the Yolo County facility.
