Montana, 60, was embroiled in a dispute with a neighbor over a tree, which escalated when he began shooting. Police responded to the scene and were met with gunfire from Montana, who was ultimately shot and killed by officers. Alcohol was reportedly a contributing factor to his actions, raising concerns about safety for others involved.
"On the shooter's side, there was some alcohol involved," District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe stated. "His death is a tragedy, but it's fortunate that nobody else wasn't hit or injured more seriously."
