Driving into San Francisco this weekend? Here's how I-80 closure will impact you
"Police officers will be out on the street to help direct traffic. CHP is definitely on board. In addition to that, Caltrans has a number of what we call portable, changeable message signs out, so that, in addition to the police support and the CHP support, there's also a tremendous amount of signage, sufficient signage, to guide people through."
"One of the big adjustments that we have made this weekend, while we're not adding additional trains is we did have some maintenance work planned for Sunday in the Transbay Tube. In fact, installing new lighting in the Transbay tube, and what we've done is we've postponed that work so it doesn't impact our service."
A 1.6-mile stretch of the Eastbound I-80 Bayshore Freeway will be closed between 17th and 4th streets. The closure includes the southbound and northbound US-101 connector ramps to eastbound I-80. The closure begins Friday at 11 p.m. and ends Monday at 6 a.m. Caltrans has coordinated with various agencies for smooth traffic management, including police and signage. BART has postponed maintenance work to accommodate extra riders, maintaining regular service. Minor re-routes for surface buses will occur, but no stops will be relocated.
