""They were verbally abrasive with one of the servers, very harsh with her," Marchese said. "You know, just being difficult people. It was evident that they were intoxicated.""
""I'm trying to tell her with my hands, 'Okay, let's just calm down, everybody, time to leave,'" he said. "And everything just spirals into chaos.""
Hazie's, a San Francisco restaurant co-owned by Joey Altman in Hayes Valley, experienced a violent late-night incident when an intoxicated couple became aggressive with staff. A viral video showing the couple yelling, filming employees and then physically assaulting staff near the bar has garnered over 780,000 views. Staff removed the pair to the sidewalk amid cheers from patrons, but the altercation continued, including hair-pulling of a bartender. The episode began around 9:30 p.m. when the couple arrived, behaved abrasively, and were refused service; a bartender with laryngitis attempted nonverbal de-escalation before chaos erupted and someone called the SFPD.
