Community throws final 'farewell' party for shuttered but beloved SF Centre mall
Briefly

"My wife and I met in high school. We used to come here all the time after school and hang out on the weekends. And, you know, for it to be gone is going to be truly missed. We hope that they turn it into something very special."
"Just create a memory that it's going to be forever, because hopefully it's going to be posted somewhere that people can see it forever."
"You know, a lot of people don't think about community when I think of downtown or even the TL, but it is a beautiful community within the area, and it's really nice. Because it still goes to show that there's people from the city still living here, and like, it's like they're proud."
San Francisco Centre closed permanently after nearly 40 years, and community members gathered for an impromptu farewell on Sunday. Longtime visitors recalled meeting, spending weekends after school, and bringing new generations to the mall. An organizer used social media to invite people to play music, meet friends, and create lasting memories. Attendees captured photos and videos of the turnout and emphasized pride in the local community. Residents expressed hope that new owners will repurpose the building into something special. The new owners have not announced any redevelopment plans.
