"A lot of excitement, a lot of pride,"
"This is our insignia mode of Gloria, where our marine cadets train, but it's also a sign of how the U.S. and Colombia have a long standing relationship, a partnership we've built over the years in which our Navy plays a vital role."
"Very proud, because I know how important it is for Colombia to be here, the front line, but also because of the importance of San Francisco, what it means to our Colombian community here in the city, and a sign of how we continue to build together,"
The Colombian Navy flagship ARC Gloria arrived in San Francisco for Fleet Week and docked at Piers 15 and 17. The 250-foot-tall training vessel received a musical, colorful welcome with dancers, dignitaries, and community leaders greeting the crew. Ambassador Daniel García-Peña emphasized pride, the ship's role training marine cadets, and the long-standing U.S.–Colombia naval partnership. Colombia and Canada stepped in after the U.S. Navy's absence due to a government shutdown to help sustain Fleet Week. The ARC Gloria last visited San Francisco seven years ago and continues to make worldwide port calls.
